Out of the 42 girls who entered the competition, the 12 with the most votes at the end of the voting week are advancing to the next round, with one exception. In the fashion of American Idol, we have thrown an exciting twist into the mixture! The Shak Girls got to save someone! This is how we did it: each Shak Girl got to choose their 3 favorite contestants out of those who didn’t advance to the top 12, then we tallied up all of their votes, & that determined who the Shak Girls saved. So our top 12 just got a little addition!

Here Is What You’ll Need

Cake:

• 1/4 cup butter
• 1/4 cup shortening
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 2 eggs
• 3/4 cup Hershey’s cocoa
• 1 & 3/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
• 3/4 tsp. baking powder
• 3/4 tsp. baking soda
• 1/8 tsp. salt
• 1 & 3/4 cups milk

Posie Cream Frosting:

• 1 cup vegetable shortening
• 1/4 cup soft butter
• 3 cups confectioners sugar
• 1 & 1/2 tsp. vanilla
• 1/8 tsp. salt
• 3/4 cup cocoa

DIRECTIONS

Cake:

• Grease & flour 9-inch cake pans.
• Cream butter, shortening, sugar, & vanilla until fluffy; blend in eggs.
• Combine cocoa, flour, baking soda, & salt in bowl; add alternately with milk & batter.
• Blend well. Pour into pans.
• Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes.

Frosting:

• Mix together.
• Frost tops & sides.
• Add chocolate sprinkles (optional).
